Hatfield Tours: Comet Hotel and Hatfield House

I don't do just food you know. I also do travel and lifestyle.
Okay, I mainly eat burgers, but on occasions, I travel and see some really cool places.

I was invited/offered to have a night at The Comet Hotel in Hatfield last weekend.

The Comet Hotel.
After a multi-million pound refit, one of Hatfield's most iconic buildings has undergone a  refurbishment to bring the original building to the modern age. With it they have created a truly 'fabulous hotel destination'.

The hotel was/is still having some work taken, so the restaurant, Element, was not yet ready. But having been greeted by the friendly reception we went to find out room.

The room itself was dominated by the HUGE King size bed, which almost made it feel like I was in a different postcode to my wife. SPACE is important.

With a few more updates and convenient location (not far from Hatfield House and Heartwood Forest - see below), I think the Comet Hotel will be a popular destination. For the hotel and restaurant too.

Hatfield House, 100% is a must see venue if you visit the area, OR, live near. A short journey from Kings Cross by train or around the M25, the house and the grounds offer great sites, a lovely walk and some good food too.

Try and time it, so it isn't raining all afternoon, like when we went. Even after the rain, the venue was fun for all the family and I will be happy to go back when the sun is shining.

For a family, a bit strapped for cash, day tours like this are a perfect way to get out of the house and see some fantastic sites. The UK has a lot of amazing sites similar to this and I have been recommended to get a National Trust pass to visit similar places near your hood.

Lastly, and purely because we did this on a Sunday of our weekend in Hatfield, was Heartwood Forest. A newly built (is that the correct term for a wild forest) conservation area managed by the Woodland Trust.

A bit about the Forest, from the Woodland Trust:
"Heartwood Forest’s 347-hectare (858-acre) site rises from what was once mainly agricultural land. It’s so big that it’s now the largest continuous new native forest in England; a place where everyone can find space, peace, wildlife and miles of beautiful woodland to explore.
Heartwood Forest is owned and managed by the Woodland Trust along with more than 1,000 sites all over the UK and supported by more than 250,000 members. Find out more about the Woodland Trust."

Go on, get out there and see the world and start with the UK.

I never really liked staying at a hotel, in my opinion, hotels are the worst. Of course, I am not here to disrespect hotel owners or anything, I am just here to field my opinions. First of all, I am a huge ambassador of living in a house. I know, I know, we are not as rich as others, but that does not mean that we should live in a hotel forever. We need to save up and buy ourselves a nice house.
