Breakfast is the most important meal of the day: make sure it's a good one

You read about it and know that it's true. Start the day off well and it will help you throughout. A good breakfast can help with weight loss, help provide energy and make you happy from the off too.

It seems nowadays that people are well aware of this and are spending more and more time in cafés and trendy coffee shops. The two pictures are of two popular places in North London. The first (above) is Banners in Crouch End and the second (below) is Boydens in Friern Barnet.

The quality here is evident in the produce. The sausages are not the usual run of the mill greasy spoon and most probably belong in a nice bangers and mash. This alongside good pieces of bacon and homemade hash browns lend to the feeling of a hearty but even healthy breakfast.

You pay extra at these places and at boydens especially you feel like you are paying more for their quirkiness and un-matching cutlery which sometimes feel a bit like a gimmick. However, the eggs royale were lovely and the hollindaise sauce was thick and buttery. At banners the quality of the produce was really good and you gladly pay extra for the full breakfast. Good bacon, a full and thick hash brown, tasty mushrooms and crisp bacon.

Start your day off well and places like these are important as a treat too. Be good to yourself and eat good food.

Lifeofshayan on tour: a week in Marrakech

Too much talk from me recently. So just pictures for you from my trip to Marrakech. I know it's what you prefer anyway.

Also word of warning for any future travellers; Luton airport is the worst airport in the UK, official survey figures have shown. The exchange rates rip you off and service is awful.

People love to "like, yeah"

"You get me, yeah". I am hearing this more and more, especially from the youth of today. Sometimes what you hear is shocking and I am mocked at times for mumbling, but that is far better than saying, "like" all the time. Even more so when you aren't comparing it to anything or actually describing something.

I am guilty of this at times but the frequency with which other people use it is appalling. What language are they teaching at school? English? Street? I think it is scumbag language.

Imagine if my blogs were written in a similar vein.

"So I went and had a burger yeah and there was like beef which was good yeah. The bacon was like well good, proper bacon like flavours. I will definitely come back if I'm like in the area. You get me?"

Speak English Maria Elena, speak English.

Quality not Quantity: Age is just a number

This tile doesn't mean anything. After a day at the IAB Engage event, speaking was Nick D'Aloisio; the 17 year old super kid who created the Summly app. Summly was sold on for millions and now Nick works for Yahoo! Someone so young, articulate and rich- WOW. I think almost everyone in the room (900 people) were in awe and slightly jealous and even more so, inspired.

As D'Aloisio ran through the events leading up to working at Yahoo, one thing stood out and that was the hard work he put in and the vision to understand why he worked so hard. What was evident to me is that we can all learn so much if we really wanted to. My friends say I talk a lot because I always go on about doing different things and rarely do it. I hope this was me a few years ago and more recently I have backed up my actions. Case in Point is this website. If we want to achieve something then we have to put effort in, another example is GiveMeTap http://www.givemetap.co.uk/
Here is what we all want to achieve, great success and the ability to give back at the same time.

Looking at Quality v Quantity is something which came from drinking too much last week and time spent at the gym. Last week I drank far too much and lost my bag in the process. I also lost the respect of my family and girlfriend at the same time. There is something in that when you hear the words "free drinks" that people lose all control. Last night I had "free drinks" too but I somewhat controlled myself, didn't lose a thing and remember everything. Know your limitations - I've said this for about 10 years and still don't know them.

When at the gym, I am there for 35 minutes usually, maximum time I will be there is 40 minutes. Quality not quantity, also with this, it is best to not compare yourself to others constantly. If you always do this you wont be happy; definitely have role models and some standards but if you are always comparing you will set yourself up for a fall.

Basically, after a night of not throwing up and hearing a 17 year old speak about his millions I feel like I can achieve and write rubbish too. Watch me fly.
(someone catch me when I fall please, and hold my hair back when I throw up too)

England are the best team in the world and Rooney is better than Messi

This is what we should now expect now that England have qualified for the World Cup finals next year. 2013 was a rubbish year for many reasons, so let's all hope for a fantastic 2014.

After all the suspense, nerves and nail biting are we really surprised by what has happened and wasn't what happened entirely predictable in the end. Added to this, England weren't too bad in the end: unbeaten in their group, only four goals conceded and new players bedded in.

"It's coming home, it's coming home, footballs coming home".

Think on the positive side, if England win the World Cup then we will probably get a day off. As a friend said to me the other day "don't hold your breathe for that one". Anyway, qualifying is easy, even Iran did it 😊I
