• LOVE FOOD, LIVE FOODIE •
A well known establishment that provides hearty food. Bill's has got a menu to please most food lovers, and at a reasonable price it ensures that people do keep on going back again.
Starting off as a small space in East Sussex, Bills went from a grocery shop to a cafe. The idea was a place to offer something for everyone and the menu shows this very much. From Breakfast to Dinner, is their key USP and this way Bill's has grown with many restaurants in London and across the country. Bill's is for when you aren't really fussy and just want to eat. No offence and the food was okay, but it doesn't really specialise in any dish and from my two experiences and the thoughts of others I've been with, it does okay food and okay prices. This visit, my brother and I both ordered the fish and chips. These came with mushy peas and tartar sauce. I love tartar sauce and asked for an extra portion just so that i could drench my fish in it. The fish was golden and crispy and looked ready to eat. Crunching into it with my knife and fork it had a nice crack to it and the fish was soft and flaky inside. Even with the crispy and golden batter, there was no inclination that this was oily or greasy food. The chips were okay and i probably used the tartar sauce more for these as it needed that something extra. Light and fluffy but lacking that bit of bite, the chips were more of a belly filler than a mouth teaser. The tartar sauce was delectable enough and the capers, shallots and gherkins gave it that appetizing taste with the good touch of citrus clinging to the fish. I am sure that I will go back to Bill's in the not too distant future. Not for anything in specific and not as a first choice, but it is consistent, tasty enough and food that we all eat and like. From breakfast to dinner, in a comfy setting, Bill's will give you what you need.
