Burger time. Made by Shayan

After many expeditions to burger restaurants and telling you all about it, I tried to make one. Laura requested that she wanted a burger and she is in charge. Monkey say, monkey do! So I went about making a burger with chips.

I purchased brioche buns from M&S and went about my tasks. (I should get commission for name dropping a brand).

For the burger I used minced beef, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, dried parsley, Worcester sauce and ketchup. A lot of ish but I like to try and experiment. All of these ingredients were mixed together and made into balls and placed in the fridge for half an hour. Whilst letting this marinade I made the chips. I wanted to make this easy and not use lots of oil. So with the skin on I cut the potatoes into finger length size and then boiled it with salt for five minutes. After a quick pat down I placed it in the oven for 25 minutes; drizzled liberally with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and rosemary.

My realisation from cooking programmes is the high heat the chefs will have when cooking meats in the griddle pan. So when it was at a high temperature I placed the burger on and after two minutes turned it around placed cheddar cheese on top and with a dash of water on the side I covered the griddle with a lid. (Cooking 101: the steam from the water helps the cheese melt quicker on the burger and prevents over cooking the meat).

That is it, done and done.

It is satisfying making your own food but faffing around in the kitchen can be annoying at times. Sometimes it is just a whole lot better and easier to go to a restaurant and let someone else worry about it all. The worst part is the cleaning. Thanks Sherwin.
