• LOVE FOOD, LIVE FOODIE •
Not often do I have to apologise for going to a restaurant. However, this was the case with Ceviche last week. Laura has been desperate to go but we have never been. Yet last week I was given the opportunity to go without her and so I went. Ceviche as a company is also the home of Andina in Shoreditch, which i went to last year. I am still a big lover of Peruvian food and drink after my holiday in 2015 and I was very excited about this trip. Seafood, the classic ceviche, good sharing plates and a glass of Pisco sours. No wonder Laura wants to go. You already know that I am all about sharing. Peruvian Tapas at Ceviche continues my love for this and between the three of us we ordered about eight dishes. We were a bit hungry but not overly hungry, so we went about ordering from all over the place. This included some bits to snack on, some fish dishes, some ceviche (of course) and a few meat dishes too. Added to this, we even went for a salad as well as a corn and feta savoury cake. Bold and Brave. For our drinks, we all went for the classic Pisco Sour. This was a great drink and with the sun just about shining through, we all wished and dreamed of being by the seaside sipping on our drinks. The Pisco was nice and delicate with a tiny nudge of alcohol at the end. The frothy egg in the sour gives you the feel of a lovely cocktail with a sour element which makes you want more. We stuck to one each on a lunch time; sensible. The food here is definitely a winner. Fresh and vibrant flavours for each dish, make them all stand out; even the salad. The staff were on hand at all times, giving us their recommendations and any specific requirements we had they tried their best to cater for.
What I would recommend from the menu is the lamb cutlets as above, charred and a bit smokey with a good zing. With their love of Potatoes in Peru, the mash that accompanied this dish was smooth and a delight in my mouth. The ceviche as in most cases was also a star performer, the acidity of the citric juices was well blended with the chilli. Most importantly was that there was a good amount of sea bass in the dish which made it a good amount to share between three people. A delight and a restaurant that I have to and will take Laura too. I love Ceviche and ceviche at Ceviche is the perfect place to have it. (confused much). A nice restaurant, comfortable and hipster at the same time. The prices are not painful and with a few more Pisco sours, this could perfectly be the place to go before a night out. We will go soon Laura.
