![]() Once it was vegan Lockdown ruined it for us Then came Chubby Burgers My Haiku to introduce you to a new burger place in Enfield. For more context, the corner opposite Enfield Town station was home to a Vegan fast food shop/restaurant. I had food there once (it was okay). Unfortunately, I think it became a casualty of the pandemic. A little while later, the shop had new branding and my dreams of a new burger joint were realised. Welcome to Chubby gourmet Burgers. As per my usual test for a first time burger, I went for the cheeseburger.
As a lockdown treat, I went for a double, with some halloumi fries too. How was it? Does Enfield have a go to Burger joint. Well... for a beef burger, No. Sorry. I can only describe this burger as 'Pub Like'. The patty had the taste and consistency of a frozen burger. I can fully understand why businesses do this, but when you describe yourself as 'Gourmet', then a frozen beef burger is not something you should do. The accompaniments, of caramelised onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese, were good. However, the beef, especially the fact that I went double, let the whole side down. I believe, fresh patties with the rest of the package would elevate Chubby's to a really good local joint. I hope this review is not seen as being harsh, but rather being useful. I have seen that their lamb burger has had good reviews. Therefore, a second try is needed. I want Chubby to do well and for locals it already seems like a popular spot. I think post lockdown, if open late night, I can see myself going for a quick burger. See you soon and good luck Chubby Burgers. GOOD TIMES: Good looking branded burger. WATCH OUT: Overcooked patty, probably cooked from frozen. OMG: Location works for me, that is it for now.
