Crazy Bear (Fitzrovia): Restaurant review

23/1/2018

When the wife makes a request, I listen, I obey and I do.

The request this year was a birthday dinner at Crazy Bear Fitzrovia. The restaurant had been recommended by a friend for the food, ambience and venue. We were both looking forward to this visit and with the little man looked after we went for a night out.

Here is how they describe themselves:
Picture
"... first London venue opened in 2004, surpassing every expectation in terms of popularity and accolades including: The Evening Standard's best bar of the year award
Theme Magazine's best designed and best operated bar. The Times' runner up for best bar in Southern England. The Crazy Bear Fitzrovia has also been awarded best restaurant by The London Lifestyle Awards, and best Thai restaurant in London by Bookatable."
On my mind, before we got there and opened the menu was Japanese food; sushi and sashimi. The menu is actually much more extensive than this aiming to cover all popular dishes of Asia predominantly Oriental food; noodles, curries etc.

The food here was nice, but for £200 I would have expected more. There are a lot more restaurants which are nicer and tastier and more reasonably priced.

What was also strange is that they had us sitting side by side. The only reason I could gather why they did this, was to squeeze in more people, rather than it being romantic.

I wouldn't rush back to spend £200 again however there are other ways............I have a Groupon voucher, which makes it more value for money especially if you love sushi! Good restaurant, but better places to go to.

GOOD TIMES: Black Cod- it has never failed me in life
WATCH OUT: pricey for what is it, Michelin prices, not really the quality to match
OMG: check out the secret toilets
