I'm going straight for it. Definitely.
Why did Alex Ferguson chose David Moyes (DM)? To be fair to him, he had an impossible act to follow. However, the fall is unprecedented and comes as a big shock to everyone. As much as I hate to say it, ferguson was a great manager and this season has gone to prove that 100%. My main issue here is with Moyes. I just cannot understand why he was chosen. Track record: None. I have read Fergusons book and he says he chose Moyes because he is a good man and has good character traits. These are rubbish reasons straight away. Let's look at the football; Moyes as manager of Everton didn't really achieve much. His highlight was a fourth place finish and a runners up medal in the FA cup. So no trophies and no champions league. All the big games he had to play, especially away from home ended without a win. Throughout his years, Moyes had to battle with relegation and to be fair to him this was all on a tight budget. At the end, Everton were playing a lot better but even then ended sixth. Again not an obvious to manage the champions of England. Now at United he has overseen their worst start in years and after tonight's defeat to Olympiakos just shows he doesn't know what to do. When Liverpool and Chelsea won the champions league against the odds, they had managers who were tactically aware and knew the limitations and what was needed. I still feel that United will qualify and have the potential to get fourth, because that is what they do. But, united this season just look like they don't know what to do, or how to play. Countless crosses, an over reliance on an 18 year old Kosovan/Belgian/English player and an ageing defence who seem to be all leaving in the summer. What is Moyes's plan. Cross at will? 4-4-2? Rooney the new captain? No one knows and it seems like the players don't know either. Fellaini; where is he supposed to play, Mata: is an exceptional player, but Moyes has no idea what to do with him. At Liverpool we have Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and sterling. The united front four look just as good if not better (van Persie, Rooney, mata, januzaj) yet Moyes cannot get them to work. This isn't a rant just because I'm a Liverpool fan. Moyes is overrated and out of his depth. His record before wasn't great and this has continued and this has all the hallmarks of when Souness took over at Liverpool. My wish is for Moyes to be the united manager for a long long time. As it may mean a period of mediocrity for Manchester United.
