Gymkhana review: a fancy Indian in London

You get what you pay for some times. Gymkhana top rated restaurant in 2013 in London aims to provide class and quality and therefore you have to pay. I love a good curry (see how Gymkhana ranks against the others) so I was happy to go for a more lavish treat this month.

An early dinner treat for us
The visit here is part of my treat for Laura, to go for a fancy meal every so often and since last year I've wanted to visit Gymkana. To start with, we got there early and we had a nice cocktail each to start with. My cocktail on the right had ginger and tequila and had a good kick, mainly from the ginger. Laura went for a lemon flavoured cocktail with Gin, ginger, curry leaf and egg white- this was called the Quinine Sour.

Starter of Tiger Prawns and Goat
Gymkhana on Urbanspoon
The night started off really well with the cocktails and carried on soon after with the lovely Tiger Prawns and Kid Goat curry. The Prawns really stood out for me and although we only had two pieces each I made sure I devoured it really slowly. It was cooked perfectly and had the warm flavours and spices which seemed to burn more and more after each bite. I loved it.

A table full of food
For main course, as you can see we had a fair bit. The menu reads as Lamb Nalli Barra (Lamb Chops), Muntjac Biryani (Deer), Paneer and Naan. All the dishes were really well cooked and prepared. The quality of the lamb chops was a level above the usual curry houses, where you are struggling to get a cooked amount of meat on the bone. Here it was plentiful and succulent. The Biryani came along with a pomegranate and mint raita which was delicious and moreish.

We were absolutely stuffed at this stage, so didn't go for desert. Thoroughly recommended evening and although it is a bit pricey you will love every moment. Maybe one for the curry club.

One Liner: Amazing Indian food with great flavours- top notch.
