I am at a loss for both- website and girlfriend. A lot of money spent and so many great memories and what have I got to show for it? £4 and a lovely girlfriend respectively. I am very lucky.
To celebrate my anniversary with Laura we went to see One man two guv'nors; it was so funny and a must see for everyone. BOOK THE TICKET
For dinner we went to Dinner by Heston. Let the pictures show you what it was all about.
The first dish, the starter was the one I was looking forward to most. Heston is known for his experimentation and culinary skills with the unexpected. This was certainly the case with the orange being a pate and the outer orange was a jelly (almost served as a chutney) with the lovely bread.
Alongside this we also went for snails on bone marrow. This was an interesting taste, rich with the snail and ox-tail flavour, which at times had me feeling like I had enough and other times like I wanted more.
For the main course, we had the pork belly as above and a rib eye steak. Both of these were amazing and seasoned well. The importance of salt in most dishes is so vital and gives food that feeling of wanting more. The steak was cooked medium rare and charred perfectly. The whole beef and even the fat was tender, juicy and crispy.
The pork was the same but not as good as the steak. I think a bit more crisp would have added to the dish. The veg that accompanied the dish was lovely too as it was throughout the whole evening.
The last course was the ice cream you see in the picture. Throughout the whole evening a cart and ice cream was working its way around the room. Laura has never been a fan of ice cream but we had to have it today. Like sheep we followed. The waiter used vanilla custard and liquid nitrogen and stirred this up using a machine whisker (if that is the name) and created a lovely ice cream. Along with this Laura chose chocolate and hazelnut as the toppings while I had raspberry and popping candy. A great way to end a great evening. Do go. A word of warning - a bit expensive and a glass of wine at £10 each. Only on specials occasions I guess.
