Hawksmoor Seven Dials - restaurant review

"Don't order too much", was the message our waiter gave us when ordering at Hawksmoor. I looked at my fellow diners and gave the 'is this guy serious?' kind of look.

They did not agree with me, they sided with the waiter and thought it best to focus on the steaks. After the meal and holding my belly in my hands I came to the realisation too that the waiter was right.

I was absolutely stuffed and by the end of the meal and i think i am still feeling the effects a day later.

I went against the waiters wishes and ordered some belly ribs as a starter. We shared it between the three of us and the waiter was kind enough to make sure that there was a piece each, instead of the usual two. The ribs were amazing, with the right amount of fat in there, it was pulled apart and devoured slowly (if that is possible). I ate the tender rib slowly as I wanted to enjoy every bite and succulent flavour that clung onto my tongue. Oh it was that good. The ribs were probably close to being star of the show.

After the delight of the ribs, i was excited and anxious about my steak. Could this trump that lovely pork, i was positive it would rival it for taste. My Rib Eye was cooked medium-rare, the best way to go and the chef did a great job with this. The marbling on the rib eye melted enough and gave the steak that extra ooze and juice. With peppercorn sauce with it the steak was eaten with much happiness from me. The steak was charred in the right areas and gave it that extra bite. The peppercorn sauce with it was good, but i wanted it a bit creamier as it was very runny. That is just me being picky.

My fellow diners had the fillet steak and this too was cooked medium rare. It was really tasty too, not as juicy, due to the lack of fat. The quality and rareness of the beef was almost like a beef tartar or carpaccio. I just thought i had to mention this. They do have quality steaks here and you will be absolutely stuffed. The quality is stand out and Hawksmoor has to be in my top three steak places in London.

A last mention goes to my favourite pudding and another show stopper from Hawksmoor and that is their Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was rich, velvety, moist, silky and just incredible. The sauce that surrounded the pudding was unreal and i wish i could have swam in it. The clotted cream on top was so smooth and with the sauce it complimented the dish perfectly.

Starters, Mains and Deserts were all top notch. There is no need to over order, go for the basics and simple and the team here will deliver true quality by focusing on their core ingredients and dishes.
