Heartbreaker burger at the Joker: Tongue 'n' Cheek review

Thanks to my friend I went to a brand new pub, the Joker on Penton street and here they were hosting the Heartbreaker Burger.

I thought this was a new burger, but in the back of my mind I knew I had heard of it before. Some searching later I found out I was right. The Heartbreaker has a residency at KERB street food, so I'm happy I tried it. However, it wasn't on any top ten list and below I'll try to explain why it won't be on mine either.

Original heartbreaker
Bun: ummmmm, well..it was a soft bun. Did it's job as a vessel to transport patty and toppings into my mouth.

Patty: this is where the name comes from, the HeartBreaker is 50% ox heart and 50% dry aged patty. It was cooked just a bit over but this was probably needed due to it being 50% ox heart. The flavour of this was however quite rich. This rich flavour made it feel like something was missing. If it was seasoning or just the Ox I'm not sure.

Toppings: chimichurri sauce, water cress and sour cream. These were not toppings i was expecting but I went for the 'Original' based on the chefs recommendations. The sauce was very overpowering and to be honest, it wasn't needed. This let the package of the burger down as it was almost all i tasted.

A big bite and lovely rosemary chips
The highlight of this visit was the chips for me. Rosemary chips done properly goes a long way. The hint of Rosemary and well balanced cooked chips were amazing and I wish there were more.

Overall, this burger was okay and did not feel my urges. I'm always excited about a new burger but this one let me down. With a burger there is the issue that some people try to hard. 'A burger is a package' so it all needs to fit and each section needs to compliment the other.

Good pub and great drinks btw.

One Liner: Nice pub, tried too hard with the burger
