• LOVE FOOD, LIVE FOODIE •
A slightly delayed post, but last week I went for a lunch time treat to Mishkins in Covent Garden. This is a Jewish deli next to Opera Tavern in the heart of theatreland and is ideal for a quick-ish lunch. They call themselves a Jewish deli mainly because of the food they serve (Salt Beef a plenty) not because it is Kosher.
As mentioned, there was salt beef on the menu, in the form of a sandwich and also on their Mac n Cheese. This wasn't a healthy lunch but a hearty one and on the menu was the option for a slider too. As stated by other reviewers this slider is more authentic in the sense that they steam the burger which makes it very moist and was medium rare as I asked. The caramalised onions and soft glazed buns made it really soft and tender to eat and the package of the burger was gone in a few minutes. The food was nice, the service friendly and helpful too. It was good to get all the different types of food in one place; salad, mac n cheese, salt beef sandwich and a slider (not all by myself). However, individually they are not the greatest and I think for the money there may be better places to go in the area.
