Roast- Borough Market- Breakfast Time

London is an amazing city and Roast aims to showcase the best of British food for all. Located in Borough market and seating over looking the market Roast dishes up. From the location to the food delivered you get the sense that it is very people orientated from the producers and  farmers to the way the staff greet you early on a Saturday morning.

I got lucky and managed to visit Roast on a nice crisp Saturday morning. Autumn is no longer coming, it is here. So the thought of being served breakfast by the professionals was very appealing. Once at Roast, the staff were very welcoming and the high ceilings add to the grand welcome. I could see a few groups who were starting on their Saturday brunches and the breakfast menu would definitely work well for this too.

I was fairly certain that I was going to go for the Eggs Royale, having researched the menu previously during the week. Research is always important. However, after looking at the menu again I had to go for the Full Borough. Roast do their take on the Full English Breakfast and fortunately Laura went for the Eggs Royale, which came with smoked Trout.

Both dishes were lovely. To get our taste buds flowing and also to help us feel healthy before hand we also had a fruit juice each; full of minerals, nutrients and vitamins which made it sound like we were being good before indulging on carbs and buttery goodness. The fruit juices (above) served their purpose and I felt cleansed and ready to devour my Full Borough.
The Full Borough had many goodies on the plate. Tomatoes, Mushroom, Poached eggs (my choice against fried or scrambled), Fried Bread, Sausages, Crispy Bacon, Black Pudding and Bubble & Squeak. With the stubble of a few days and taking my fiance out, I now felt like a real man (whatever that means). All components of the Full Borough were spot on, the eggs were firm but gooey in the middle, the yolk slowly oozed out onto the plate. The sausages had that countryside feel to it, with herbs throughout taking it away from a grubby cafe to a special sausage from a select producer.

The smoked trout from Loch Etive in Argyl was also lovely. The red trout was deliciously covered in a fluffy hollandaise sauce, which was also divine. It was the best hollandaise sauce i have ever tasted and Laura echoed these sentiments. The dish came together with the consistent poached eggs and these two breakfast plates left us happy and with the need to walk off a substantial breakfast. The only problem here was being confronted with a food market downstairs at Borough Market. The woes we face.

Thank you Roast, Thank you Zomato and thank you to me too.
See you all soon
