The Old Dairy Review: Sunday Roast

A long weekend and a sunny day call out for the Old Dairy in Stroud Green. A pub which has a great vibe, shows the football and a Sunday Roast which had left me stuffed. The name of the pub reflects the history of the pub: it was an Old Dairy. Now onto the food.

The restaurant was very quiet and I think that this was due to the weather being so good and also because the Arsenal game was on too. Today I craved for and went for the Dexter Beef. This was cooked medium/well done although the menu stated it was rare. Maybe they mean that it was a cow that was very elusive to Stroud green (sorry about that). The meat was very tasty however and this lightly dipped with horseradish was just what I needed.

The roast was joined by guests such as cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, carrots and a Yorkshire pudding. The best feature here was the cauliflower cheese which was a surprise but welcome addition. The cheese was creamy and not too rich and was ideal besides the beef. The rest of the cast performed adequately but no standouts. The potatoes were not crispy enough whilst the pudding was too crispy. The package however of a roast worked perfectly and left me filling content.

To top of this feeling I devoured the sticky toffee pudding I ordered which was hot and moist. Lovely. The other deserts on the table of carrot cake and chocolate brownie were also great and left us all holding our bellies and waving a white flag.

The Old Dairy is a great venue and does good food. If you just want a drink, let me know. If you want to want to watch football, let me know. If you want food here, let me know. Anything else, then go somewhere else, but the Old Dairy is a welcoming pub which caters for all.

One Liner: Big pub where you can eat, drink and watch football
