"Tramshed, a former East End tram-generator building in the heart of Shoreditch, boasts the renowned Cock ‘n’ Bull installation by Damien Hirst. The menu gives centre-stage to Swainson House chicken and Peter Hannan’s beef, carved at the table and designed for guests to share."
What we had between seven adults:
The amount of food we ordered was definitely enough for seven people; but I'm sorry to say it wasn't good enough. Tramshed was not my first choice for my Dad's birthday dinner, I was late to book something and this seemed to be the best available.
The service was good, the drinks were nice, the venue is lovely. The food however, just was not good enough. This is two years in a row I have let my Dad down for his birthday dinner. As the so-called family 'foodie', I do feel extra pressure to please!
What let us down at Tramshed was the steak. Well over £100 for the beef rib and although it was cooked medium it was quite tough and dry. Maybe it was our fault that we didn't stick to the medium-rare, but even so, you would expect better.
The chicken with stuffing and gravy was well seasoned and probably the best thing we ate all night, but not outstanding and something that The Chicken Shop could easily match or do even better.
The Tramshed, is a good venue for drinks and a catch up with lots of space catering. If you want to focus on good steak or good chicken, I recommend elsewhere! Dad, I promise I will do better for you next year!!!
GOOD TIMES: The chicken was tasty, eat quickly before he gets dry
WATCH OUT: get the beef cooked medium, ours was slightly over and very tough
OMG: funny decorations and the Damian Hirst piece is a must-see
